October 8, 2024 I grew up with eucalyptus trees. This grove we started from seedlings. Filling a cattle trough yesterday morning this scene appeared. Funny thing - trees are a mixed bag of shade, habitat, carbon footprint reduction & wind protection. They’re messy, sometimes noisy, & at times pose a wildfire risk. They suck up ground water away from native plants & the arroyo below - plus they get big (these puppies are over 100’ tall). Still this group still inspires. It looks young after 40 years. Who would have thought? Last week we cut down 10 of them and left these.
